MUSD: New Transportation and Busing Guidelines for 2010-2011 school year
Received article
Friday, July 23, 2010
As a result of budgetary cutbacks, the Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD) Transportation Department has employed the use of a software computer system that will improve the efficiency of bus routing. Therefore, there are many changes in bus stops, as well as routes and pick-up times. The Transportation department is making this information available.
You will also be able to pick up the information at your child's school on Meet the Teacher Night. There will also be a link on the district web page, as well as each school site's web page, that will allow you to look up your child's walk/ride status along with their pick-up and drop-off locations, times, and their assigned school.
In addition, the District has worked to be in compliance with the legally allowed student walk boundaries. The walk boundary for elementary and middle school students is one (1) mile and one and a half (1.5) miles for high school students. The MUSD does not receive reimbursement for transportation costs from the state if the walk boundaries are less than required by law. If you live within the stated radius, your child will be assigned a walk status.
You can look up your child's bus stop at
www.maricopausd.org
. The link to the bus stop locator can be found on the Transportation Department web page, as well as each school site web page. If you have problems accessing your child's bus stop, please contact Janelle Mason at
jmason@musd20.org
or call (520) 568-5100 ext. 1160, or Shannon White at
swhite@musd20.org
